The Red Tea of Egypt is here!

Sorrel Tea, also known as Hibiscus Tea or the Red Tea of Egypt, is a delicious tea that can be enjoyed hot or cold. Popular throughout history and all around the world… This beautifully deep red plant that tastes slightly sour, contains a whole range of vitamins and minerals, including but not limited to… ready?

  •  Vitamin C
  • Calcium – not just about bones here, calcium helps your heart, muscle and nerves function better
  • Niacin
  • Riboflavin
  • Flavonoids

Sorrel, when taken as a tea, is used to treat ailments including…

  • High blood pressure because sorrel is a diuretic that rids the body of excess salts and unneeded water making it easier for your heart to pump. Also, as a diuretic, it detoxifies.
  • Early stage kidney stone development
  • Bile production of the liver to help us with digestion
  • Intestinal peristalsis so it can be used as a laxative
  • Reduces risk of heart disease by reducing elevated cholesterol levels and triglyceride levels to prevent clogging of arteries

Sorrel is used in several different recipes, from seasoning chicken and fish or sprinkled over soups and salads. It can also be used as a beauty treatment when in dried form. Just wet the leaves and use it as a rub (some claim it treats scurvy, ringworm and very itchy skin).
